Good stuff. SF in itself will quite probably get Amanda back into the top 500 on Monday week, taking GB up to 10 in that top 500.

She should have quite a lot more rise with nothing to defend until April.

SF: (5) Amanda Carreras WR 521 v Melanie Stokke (NOR) WR 641 (= CH; 18yo junior WR 119)

Stokke came from a set down to beat the player (ABZ) who defeated Amanda in the QFs last week.

Bit of a basket-case of a set, but at least it went the preferred way in the end!

Warning - tennis / stats geekery ahead :

With that scoreline Amanda must have broken once more than Stokke in each set, therefore an odd number of breaks in each set, therefore an even number of breaks over the two sets combined, therefore there were not a total of 13 breaks.

But, hey, a lot anyway and well done Amanda.

( even if you are now going to beat my prediction of GB no 10 for you and this is clearly part of the late general conspiracy against me ! )
