Sad to say that Air Austral no longer run a direct flight from Reunion to Sydney (originating in Paris) and onto Noumea, New Caledonia.
If James makes the final, minimum journey time will be 25 hours via Mauritius and Dubai to Melbourne - he would arrive very jet-lagged I imagine.
If he makes the final considering he is lined up for Helsinki the week after, I would be very surprised if he goes for Traralgon, near Melbourne.
I imagine he is nearing a decision-point.
