A potential banana skin for such a weak tournament.

I've followed Pospisil closely since his Rogers Cup semi-final and he's quickly become one of my favourite players. He has a lovely serve and also some great groundstrokes when they're on form, but if Murray is playing well then he should have enough to beat an on-form Pospisil.

Andy takes the first set 6-4. As you say, Beefy, Pospisil has a good-looking game, but he needs to learn a bit of patience. If he does he could be a real force.

I definitely agree, Madeline. I suppose he hasn't been on the ATP Tour full-time for long and so may be experimenting with his game or figuring out how far he can push it.

Second set *3-2 for Andy.

I love the ballkids' fishing-nets.

That was a solid win for Andy. He should definitely be looking at the final now as every other seed in the bottom half has fallen.

An in-form Bellucci or Troicki are still a threat though. Lord knows what's happened to Bellucci over the last 12 months but Troicki is obviously very under-ranked.

Let's get past Struff before we begin to worry about anybody else!

L16: (2/WC) Andy Murray WR 11 beat Vasek Pospisil (CAN) WR 44 (CH 25 in Jan) by 4 & 4

QF: (2/WC) Andy Murray WR 11 v Jan-Lennard Struff (GER) WR 52 (= CH)

I was amazed to find that Struff was now ranked so high but it turns out that he reached the semis in Metz last month, hence the career high. His last singles match against a Brit was also against a Scot - he beat Jamie Baker in 2012. The only Brit who has beaten him in singles before was Dan Cox, who won 2 & 2 in Cremona in 2011.
