Im not sure but i think ranking pts won from Olympics carry on till that point in the next year. so if you won a gold medal in the 3rd week of AUgust 2004 it drops off by that time in 2005

Yes, that's clearly what happened with Nicolas Massu.


He won the Olympic title on 22/08/04.


On rankings at 15/08/05 he was in 31st place with 1060 points, but on 22/08/05 he had dropped to 58th place with 665 points  ( Olympic Champion gets 400 points ).
