RE: Week 42 - France F23 ($10,000) - Cap d'Agde (Hard - indoor)

We know that David and Joe are really underranked and should be capable of making semi finals and finals at 15k level.

They seem to put the doubles first - so it is important for Joe that he gets his singles ranking up to ensure he makes main draw as they will soon be stepping up to challengers.

David will end up being a doubles specialist.

Absolutely.

Joe and David are obviously under-ranked, as in the singles, as they've only played 5 months or so and therefore their ranking, at minimum, should be an 12-months interpolation of their existing 5 months' worth of points.

Harry's day gets no better, although it was no major surprise.

Meehan/Grinberg lost to Lescure/Chettar 6-4 4-6 10-7

Joe S and David O'Hare seem to have won their doubles QF by walkover.

Which is very nice. Points in hand, new doubles CH guaranteed, some cash in the kitty . . .

No "seem to" about it:

QF:  David O'Hare (IRL) & Joe Salisbury CR 1438 (675+763) "defeated" Florent Diep & Ugo Nastasi (FRA/LUX) CR 1931 (1082+849)

Very tight first set.

Joe got the break just at the right moment and served for the set at 6-5 - but got broken back

tie-break . . .

Joe looks like he is going to take it (please don't be a commentator's curse) - he's at 5-2* in the second

As predicted, Kanar was not a scary prospect but big credit to Joe anyway - a very nice victory against a WR 800 player.

He now gets Authom who is in a different league. However, Authom has been out for a couple of months since he retired against Klein in Wimbly qualis, so only just back, which gives a slight unknown aspect to the match.

The boys are spared an encounter with the top seeds in the semi &, on paper at least, stand a chance of reaching another fina:

SF:  Sébastien Boltz & Antoine Hoang (FRA/FRA) CR 1931 (850+1081) vs David O'Hare (IRL) & Joe Salisbury CR 1438 (675+763)
