RE: England in India - cricket

England go in to the third test NEEDING a win! Dravid seems to know this and is doing everything he can do to acocmodate this . On a pitch which you would want o bat first he put England in and they have PUNISHED him!!!

Strauss is racing his way to a brilliant innings - 85 not out at the moment

Bell was out for 18 (caught by H Singh bowled by Sreenath)

Owais Shah on debut is 50 not out

England have continued well and despite Owais Shah not returning after tea (retd hurt - cramp in wrist, shouldn't be too serious), England are 212-1

Strauss 123*
Bell 18 (caught by Harbajan Sing, bowler by Sreenath)
Owais Shah 50* (retd hurt)
Pieterson 15*

Strauss has been dropped twice today (Dhoni and dravid i think). He's taking his chances though

England are in danger of letting this great start go to waste. they are now 247-3 - still a strong position but 1 or 2 more wickets and that would all change...

Owais shah has still not returned to the middle and there are two new batsemn at the crease, Collingwood (1*) and Flintoff (4*). Strauss was out good knock of 128 and Pieterson out for a very laboured and fortuitous 39.

England finish Day 1 on the third test on top. 272-3
Flintoff and Collingwood still in the middle and Owais shah could still resume his innings from 50*

England were in a very strong position but have kinda let India back in it with a mid to low order collapse. They went from 326-3 to 356-8!!!

Now they are 367-8 with Owais Shah on 76*

Collingwood and flintoff were the only ones who made meaningful contributions of 31 and 50 respectedly.

Sree Sreenath took 4-65
M Patel took 2 wickets in 2 balls for figures of 2-77

England are all out for 400. A decent score but could have and should have been 550+

Shah got 88 in the end, out to a stunning catch off the bowling of Singh

England's bowlers have made a good start! India are 27-2, Hoggard doing the damage taking the wickets of both openers

Since the last update England bowled out India for 279!!!

that gave them a lead of 121 and England are now 100-5 (one of the wickets include Udal, the nightwatchman so it is not as bad as it sounds).

So with a lead of 221 and 5 sessions left they are still in a very strong position. If they can get 150 runs with an hour of play left today then they would set a tough target of 370+ and India's openers would have a tough session to close out! Flintoff is at the crease so he could score quickly

Alas no...Freddie took 140 odd balls to get to 50 and got out....twice out on 50 in the same match !

India need 313 to win on the last day...........no chance England will win by tea !!!

England need another seven wickets in 2 sessions ...gonna be touch and go

India are 75-3 at lunch but arguably the toughest type of batsmen to bowl out in this situation are at the crease - Tendulkar and Dravid

BBC Update:

0713: WICKET India 75-4 (Dravid 9) A dream start for England after the interval as Flintoff's third delivery, a terrific ball, finds the Indian captain's edge. Jones does the rest and Flintoff's wild celebrations reflect that it's game on now - India's remaining batsmen are attacking players.

I will be very surprised if england do not win this now and level the series!

BBC update:

0720: WICKET
India 76-5 (Tendulkar 34) The big one. Tendulkar gets an inside edge off the pad and the ball is snaffled up by Bell at short-leg to give Udal his finest moment in the game. India are in disarray now and the game is there for England's taking.
