the 'new, young Monfils' (see previous posts) has just won his semi easily (slightly too easily, in fact, to be ideal for Alex). 6-1 6-2

So Alex will play Frenchman Calvin Hemery later today in the final.

Seems to have got to 2-3 in the second set and then been suspended ???

I can't see but I'm guessing they've rolled it over to tomorrow ?

Calvin is supposed to be in France as a wildcard for Nevers next week - although not playing Monday. Alex obviously staying in Portugal (and also not playing tomorrow) so a little easier. All a bit daft, though, with that scheduling and everything . . .

Me too The first Olympic athletics I watched was the 400m hurdles heats at Munich 1972 and he was the first athlete I remember seeing, starting the defence of his title, only to be foiled in the end by John Akii-Bua and Ralph Mann.

FINAL: (1) Alex Ward WR 380 leads Calvin Hemery (FRA) WR 677 (CH 614 last Nov) by 6-3 *2-3

The OoP hasn't been updated on the ATP site and there is no scope for a 2nd Monday OoP on the ITF site but Alex himself came to the rescue.
