RE: Week 39 - Sweden F5 ($15,000) - Falun (Hard - indoors)

Farris looks like going straight into the GB top 20 on Monday, so we've got a battle to get into the GB top 20 and a battle to get onto the table going on, though there is then a considerable gap up to GB no. 19 George Coupland, which Farris would need to reach another final this week to bridge.

As things stand, totals for the Brits from GB no. 20-27 on Monday week will be:

20 up 9) 44 pts Farris 17 now + 27 to add next Monday (still to play R1 in the the US this week)
21 dn 1) 36 pts Tom (playing BT this week)
22 same) 35 pts Toby 34 + 1 so far this week
23 dn 2) 34 pts Cam (out in Napa Ch fqr)
24 up 1) 32 pts Jack 29 + 2 to add next Monday + 1 so far this week (in R2 in Turkey)
25 dn 1) 30 pts Josh G (retired)
26 dn 3) 30 pts Lewis 31 - 1 to come off on Monday - 1 to come off on 6 Oct + 1 so far this week (rises to 32 if he wins today)
27 dn 1) 26 pts JWH 25 + 1 so far this week (in R2 in Portugal)

The projected changes are position are between this week's rankings and the 6 Oct rankings.

Fantastic forehand from Lewis leaves Figueroa flailing and the Brit has a mini-break *4-3

Saved *6-6 ... 7-6* match point ... YES!!

Three tiebreaks that all went past 6-6 and more than 3 hours of play ... that's quite a win for Lewis!

L16: (1) Ed Corrie WR 269 beat Milos Sekulic (SWE) WR 697 (CH 643 last month) by 4-6 7-6(3) 7-5
L16: Lewis Burton WR 726 beat (Q) Pablo Figueroa (SWE) UNR (CH 604 in 2010) by 7-6(7) 6-7(6) 7-6(6)

QF: (1) Ed Corrie WR 269 v Lewis Burton WR 726

H2H 2-0 - Ed won 3 & 2 in Ilkley in 2012 and 4 & 4 in Preston last year

Easy peasy lemon squeezy - NOT.

Lewis wins 8-6 in the 3rd set breaker.

Just looking at the stats, both players served 129 of the 258 points, Lewis won 87 of his 129 and Figueroa 86 of his 129. Desperately close in every sense of the word ... and the Brit came through!

Brits are now an astonishing 11-0 in GB v non-GB singles matches today!

I'd watched most of Lewis' match up to 3-3 in the third. Then rushed out and jumped on the bus. And was glued to the mobile. But the match wasn't on Bet365 and itf livescores never works on my mobile. So was hitting re-fresh time and time again on the forum page. Got Steven's first tweets, then Bob, 3-3 in the tiebreak, then 5-5 - then the bus went up a street where my connection cut out - frantic re-start when we came to the next street, pause, steven's tweet was there, but took ages to load - and then came up and Lewis had won - and I let out a big 'yes' !!!

In the doubles quarter-finals, it's another clean sweep for the Brits, with Joe and O'Hare beating the second seeds:

Quarterfinals

Lewis BURTON (GBR) / Edward CORRIE (GBR) [1]  def.   Jacob ADAKTUSSON (SWE) / Tobias BLOMGREN (SWE)   6-4 7-5

David O'HARE (IRL) / Joe SALISBURY (GBR)  def.   Jesper BRUNSTROM (SWE) / Markus ERIKSSON (SWE) [2]   7-6(3) 6-2

Ed's hitting some good form, would be great if he could take the title here and keep improving that CH.
