Was going to say that Andy did well to up the ante slightly and the other guy visibly lost heart but the other guy has now retired, (no obvious reason) so he's presumably injured (might explain all the sliced forehands):
Andy wins 6-4 4-0 retired
Joe is cruising and will have wrapped it up very soon. ...
add (2 mins later) : ... like now: Joe wins 6-1 6-0

Sizya loses the first set 6-4, which is a fair score (if not a little flattering to Sizya) as the Chinese guy is slightly more consistent and has slightly better ball placement.
FQR: (q2) Joe Salisbury WR 1218 def. Richard Solberg (SWE) UNR 6-1 6-0
FQR: (q5) Andrew Bettles WR 1621 def. Jakob Johansson-Holm (SWE) UNR 6-4 4-0 retired

Nice to see none of the Brits has come up against another one: the top 4 are all in the top half; andy all by himself down below (guess the rankings may change tomorrow but for the time being . .. )
R1: (1) Ed Corrie WR 279 v (q) Jesper Brunstrom (SWE) WR 1525 (CH 1368 May 13)
R1: Lewis Burton WR 741 v (q) Robert Rasmussen (SWE) UNR
R1: (8) Josh Milton WR 401 v (q) Pablo Figueroa (SWE) UNR (CH 604 sept. 2010)
R1: (q) Joe Salisbury WR 1218 v Adrien Bossel (SUI) WR 415 (CH 317 sept 2012) - Adrien is the only pro player with a pacemaker - see other 'remarkable non-GB performances thread)
R1: (q) Andy Bettles WR 1621 v (wc) Christoffer Solberg (SWE) WR 1166
Joe seems to have got the hardest draw - Adrien's been playing pretty well - Lewis and Josh play each other in the next round if they both win.
In the dubs, Ed and Lewis are top seeds, Andy is playing with Sizya (glad to see he's got a doubles place) but they play the third seeds, and Joe is with david O'Hare which is the second time I've seen david come and play the doubles but not put himself in for the singles qualies . . . which strikes me as strange . .
R1: (1) Ed Corrie & Lewis Burton CR 383 (226+157) vs (WC) Hannes Fredborg & Edvin Gustafsson (SWE/SWE) UNR R1: Andy Bettles & Sizya Kivanda UNR vs (3) Sriram Balaji & Patrik Rosenholm (IND/SWE) CR 970 (211+759) R1: David O'Hare (IRL) & Joe Salisbury CR 2284 (964+1320) vs Vincent Eriksson & Igor Tubic (SWE/SWE) UNR
Yes, interesting to see Lewis serve and volley on practically every point (first or second serve) and chip and charge on the rest.
Still feel that a guy with his athletic abilities should work on being stronger and more solid from the baseline but it's certainly working fine today, against today's qualifier opponent:
Joe's serve and volley is rather predictable, coming in even behind pretty average serves . . .
It is his game. It either works or doesn't but it is how he plays.
Yeah, there's a logic to having a game plan and sticking to it. I'd have liked to see him use his ground strokes to construct some net points rather than blindly rushing in all the time but I may well be wrong . . .
Anyway, decent-ish score but Bossel definitely deserved the win:
R32: Joe Salisbury (GBR) Q WR 1218 lost to Adrien Bossel (SUI) WR 415 (CH 317 2012) 6-2 7-6(4)
On the tournament's livestream, they were all wearing white, all pretty much blond-ish, couldn't really tell one lot from the other - but it was our lot that came through ::))
Ed and Lewis win their doubles against the Swedish pair, 6-3 6-2
