A possible stroke of luck for Skups & Skups:  Bemelmans has apparently sustained an injury to his left hand, so he & Bozo have been replaced by alternates.

R1:  (1) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 162 (81+81) vs Mirza Basic & Tomislav Brkic (BIH/BIH) CR 784 (492+292)

For a while in the first set I feared the worst & that they were going to blow it!

R1:  (1) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 162 (81+81) defeated Mirza Basic & Tomislav Brkic (BIH/BIH) CR 784 (492+292) by 7-6(6) 6-2

******

QF:  (1) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 162 (81+81) vs Borna Coric & Ante Pavic (CRO/CRO) CR 905 (663+242)

I don't think they're going to have it all their own way in that match, despite the rankings difference!

As tricky as I expected:

QF:  (1) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 162 (81+81) defeated Borna Coric & Ante Pavic (CRO/CRO) CR 905 (663+242) by 6-3 3-6 [10-3]

*****

SF:  (1) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 162 (81+81) vs (ALT) Valery Rudnev & Yaraslav Shyla (RUS/BLR) CR 952 (683+269)

The Russo-Belarusian pair did for the third seeds, Betov & Bury, in their quarter-final...

A much better week for Skups & Skups! smile

Final:  (1) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 162 (81+81) vs Malek Jaziri & Alexander Kudryavtsev (TUN/RUS) CR 621 (299+322)

Jaz's & Kudry's impressive run to the final belies their lowly combined ranking:  they saw off Cerretani & Zverev in straight sets in the first round before accounting for the fourth seeds, Baluda & Kravchuk, in the QF & the second seeds, Kretschmer & Monroe, in the SF, both in three.  Not to be underestimated...

Good for them. It's clearly not been the smoothest of passages to the final even here, but hopefully such a run has upped their confidence.

Final:  (1) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 162 (81+81) defeated Malek Jaziri & Alexander Kudryavtsev (TUN/RUS) CR 621 (299+322) by 1 & 4

Great news. Let's hope they can maintain this form as they have a lot of points to defend over the next couple of months.
