Maybe they hadn't entered, and then decided they wanted to, late. Being Croatian would help their case for a wild card.

Just read through the ITF rulebook and singles ranking is taken into account before doubles ranking for doubles entry.
Entries for doubles are not in advance. Only day of sign in, so Madeline's theory is not possible.

They play Blaz BIZJAK (SLO) / Peter MICK (SVK) in the final.
