Must earn Joe some bragging rights ; unranked player makes the final and plays former Wimbledon champion.

I was actually surprised they didn't have a ranking, as they have won a few matches and looked a good pair. David picked up points in Dublin I believe, but I don't think Joe travelled that week.

Marcus and Freddie both won their 1st sets 7-5. Freddie broke in the first game of the 2nd set too but Josh broke back immediately.

Marcus makes his 4th Futures singles final of the year (W 2 L 1):

SF: (5) Marcus Willis WR 358 beat Josh Ward-Hibbert WR 816 by 5 & 2
SF: (6) Josh Milton WR 401 lost to Frederik Nielsen (DEN) WR 662 (CH 190 in 2011) by 7-5 3-2 ret.

FINAL: (5) Marcus Willis WR 358 v Frederik Nielsen (DEN) WR 662 (CH 190 in 2011)

H2H 0-1 - Freddie won 4 & 4 in Bath back in 2009

Just checked - it appears to be Marcus's first Futures singles final at 15K level, so well done to him. Hopefully he can prevent Freddie (back to his old tricks) completing a quintuple Brit-bash this week!

Yes, hopefully Marcus can see off Freddie ( some players like Amy Bowtell seem to disproportionately take to beating Brits ).

A win for Marcus will probably take him above his CH of WR 322 from June this year.

Been a bit of a mixed year for Marcus with a couple of earlier 10K titles, but probably some frustration that he hasn't so far been able to push on into the top 300. But a week culminating in a 15K title and a likely new CH would be a nice step forward.

The college boys couldn't quite maintain their momentum in the rest of the match.  JWH & Freddie are the s.

Final:  (2) Freddie Nielsen (DEN) & Josh Ward-Hibbert CR 499 (100+399) defeated David O'Hare (IRL) & Joe Salisbury UNR by 6-7(5) 6-4 [10-8]

I guess that'll get this Freddie guy to a double figure doubles ranking.

He seems to be quite good at this doubles lark even though I have heard that he wants to concentrate on singles. Maybe he should give doubles more of a go.

He gets to play on the big stage, and he stops being annoying to Brits in futures. Win, win !
