Without in any way meaning to be disrespectful to Dan C, have to say that I am gutted for Jack. What a win that would have been. He had MP at one point as well. So close. He is clearly playing well at the moment. I know he lost to Tatlot in the QF last week but Tatlot has just beaten Ed C in France so must be playing well.

Wonder what the story is there! confuse

Most likely something to do with Dan Cox going to a 3rd set breaker earlier in the day.

Could be that or Brydan's singles match being the last to finish - and with Evo out, they must be the favourites to reach the singles Final.

A few suprises in those results.

Evo should have an op if it is the same knee problem.

Surprised loses for Harry, Tom, Neil P and Sam Barry.

It has a Willis v Klein semi final in the top half written all over it.

Bottom half is quite open. I've got the feeling Dan C is not in the best of form at present. Bambo should win and get into the top 500.

I'd say that Dan Cox's recent form has not looked bad at all. He put up a decent show at US Open qualifying and has performed fairly well in challengers this summer. Hopefully the closeness of his match with Jack had a lot to with Jack playing well on the day.

If they are both fit and healthy ( their doubles withdrawal is a slight concern ), I'd say a Brydan vs Dan final is most likely. I would have thought based on their general form that Dan would get the better of Luke in any QF meeting.

Be interesting...

yes, but both Harry and Tom have been plagued with injuries - both have retired from matches fairly recently and not played much in general.

And JWH's win may be part of him 'bouncing back' after a seemingly pretty miserable experience at NTC - was only there 6 months and barely won a match, though other things were going on too, I think. Don't know if he's going to Nottingham ? Or back to Soto ? But hope that he's happy (and playing better). All a bit disruptive really . . .

Harry Skinner's win was the only real major surprise, I reckon - where did that come from ????

George C stands a pretty good chance in the lower section - will be interesting, as you say, it's pretty open, even though Dan is obviously the best ranked by far.

JWH won 3 & 5 and will play Brydan next (H2H 0-2, both on grass)

Luke now seems to have his match under control and is serving for it

George won the 1st set 6-1 against Harry

Luke wins from a break down in the 3rd 6-4 4-6 6-3

Jonathan Artman on Twitter:

"Hudson looked understandably dejected and frustrated, shaking his head whilst walking away from the courts back to clubhouse"

Still, nearly twice as many games as he has ever taken off Freddie before! Not good though

It means Luke will get the chance to avenge that loss in 2 close tiebreaks to Nielsen in Calgary last month.

Mr Cox v Mr Nielsen is clearly one of those match-ups that just doesn't work. Mind, if you say Mr Cox has an 0-3 record against Wimbledon champions, it doesn't sound so bad
