Loses 62 61. Wasn't remotely close after the first two games (other than a break point in the final game).

Can't be disappointed though. A great win yesterday and more court time. Needs a good draw next week to try and get moving back to the top 100 after missing the most important part of the season for her. Fingers crossed for a bit of luck.

Funny year for Jo.
Broke the top 100 thing, but overall, has had a pretty nondescript year.
Lots of points still to defend, and could end up sliding back considerably by years end.

I get really frustrated, because it's almost as though she doesn't believe she is good enough to play against the 'big girls' when she gets the chance.
I look at players like CoCo Vandeweghe, Shelby Rogers, Grace Min, amongst others ahead, some far ahead, of her, and with half half her talent.
I thought the Vancouver win last year might give her the impetus to believe in her self and go on a consolidating run, or getting in to the top 100 - but, no, it's a step forward, two back, two forward, one back - stasis overall.

Today was a tough assignment to be sure; I'm talking rather more generally.
US Open is a very big deal for her now, just... no one tell her that. Her nerves get the best of her so readily as it is!

Still love you though Jo, and here's hoping for a round or two at USO and a strong finish to the year.
