I posted this in Laura's own thread, but repeating it here
Laura has posted on Instagram this morning.
"One more op for luck... After months of struggling through all the rehab and treatments available, a decision was made this week to have another hip surgery & try fix the pain for good. Very much hope to be back on court soon but in the meantime I can't wait to walk my dog without limping. Small victories"
New from Lisa Whybourn in that her second op sounds more successful as she has started serving now.
That's a name I haven't heard in a while. I thought she'd gone to TV or was that Jade ?
Lisa went down to Australia to be a tennis coach. Her twitter says she's at the Hume Academy in Melbourne.
I don't think Jade is in television - I always see her doing school visits, part of the 'athlete mentor' sort of thing, as a spokesperson for various foundations/organisations (Beyond the Baseline?), speaking to kids about healthy lifestyles, doing activity sessions, inspirational talks, all that sort of thing.

I remember (perhaps wrongly) that Lisa, Jade, Eleanor and Sam all went out injured at about the same time.
She obviously divides opinion on here, but I'm a bit surprised there was no mention of Maria Sharapova's immediate retirement (unless I've missed it). It did seem a case of when, not if, but I wasn't expecting it so out of the blue, and thought she might have had a specific date or tournament in mind, and a bit of a shame she's ended on 4 straight defeats (although to be fair, that probably would have have extended if she did carry on).
She's obviously successful off the court, and could do pretty much whatever she wanted (within reason), and she can fully concentrate on that now, but tennis, not just the WTA, has lost one of it's biggest names now, at least officially anyway.

Best of luck Maria
Mmm. But her legacy is tainted , ace, I'm sorry to say. Not just the ban for getting caught but the fact she took meldonium, albeit before it was banned, in performance enhancing doses for much of her career.
