Injuries - and good luck wishes

I just saw that US player, Danielle Collins, WTA 33, has been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.

Same as Caroline Woz.

Wishing them both all the best.

As I know a child with this disease I realise it can strike at any age but they both seem so young to be afflicted...

Yes, you do sometimes wonder if they push their bodies so hard that they are more vulnerable to auto-immune diseases like this. Venus Williams' disease is of the same family.

And so many players suffer from mono/glandular fever, and other fatigue-related illnesses.

As mentioned elsewhere, Tatiana Golovin (FRA) is making a comeback at the WTA in Luxembourg, 12 years after being forced to quit due to the horrible effects of Ankylosing spondylitis. Although this is another arthritis sort of disease, I don't think it's an auto-immune one (although someone may well correct me). But she was certainly very young (about 20) when she was diagnosed.

Not sure if it's injury related but I saw on Twitter today that having been world no.8 just 2 years ago Jack Sock is about to lose his world ranking....anyone know what the story is?

Poor singles form after winning Paris Masters followed by what I think was a snowboarding injury to his finger which lead to an injury layoff this year. Since returning, other than the Laver Cup, hasn't won a singles match.

Thanks FW, that's sad to see, I hope he can get back on track.

Great to see young CiCi Bellis back on court for the first time in almost 20 months. She won her comeback match as well against an opponent who has been posting some good results recently.

Best wishes to Domi Cibulkova who has announced her retirement.

Short of stature, giant of heart and spirit. Slam finalist, WTA Championship winner, 450 Tour MD wins, CH #4.

Pome! for evermore.

I've edited the title to include illness.

Not strictly necessary because we all understand it anyway, but just to be correct....

And to send all the very best wishes to Francesca Schiavone, who's tweeted a photo of herself, without hair, having been engaged in a fight against cancer, which I hadn't realised. All the very best to her.

"HI everyone, upon 7-8 of silence from social media and from the world, I wish to share with you what happened to me. A cancer had been diagnosed to me. I did chemotherapy, I fought a though battle and now I am still breathing. I have won this fight. And now I am back in action".

I wish Francesca well.  I just loved watching her play.  A bit unconventional but put everything, just everything, into every shot.
