This is best wishes to the Lumsden family, a trio of young tennis players who lost their father tragically last year. I wish to express my condolences as it was news to me.
"Maia, who is also eligible for a spot at Junior Wimbledon this summer, Ewen and their younger sister Eve are still dealing with the sudden tragic loss of their father David."
So sad, not something people generally have to cope wth until there 50's lots of sympathy for the whole family. I hope Mia picks up her wildcard. Who knows what will happen, Gabby Taylor was going great find last year
Although I think it's a little while back (last year?), I read that Lisa Phillips dislocated her knee while training and was out for 3 - 6 months.
She was discussed on this thread a fair bit at one time (that cricket serve and Louis Cayre's involvement, amongst other things). Do wish her all the best. That's a nasty injury. Hope all's well now.
Dani Hantuchova announced her retirement today.
A bit of a shame that it will struggle for attention amid the clamour of Wimbledon.
Fine player: two-time Indian Wells Champion, and 5 other tour titles. CH of 5 in both singles and doubles.
Also, a very good servant to the tour and it's extended outreach activities for the last 20 years.
Best wishes to her for whatever comes next.

And all the best to Bethanie Mattek-Sands who has gone down with what apparently looks like a serious knee injury in her singles match. That's a very rough thing to have happen at any time ... and a really horrid thing to happen when you and your partner were trying to get a non-calendar-year Slam.
It seems ages ago when I first saw Daniella playing doubles at Wimbledon (well it was actually, must have been 2001). Always look out for her results. Best of luck in the future.
As for Bethanie - hope that she's OK - I was really hoping that she could complete the set.
Yes, Bethanie's piteous screams of agony could be overheard on the commentary for many minutes, very distressing.
An 'acute knee injury', which Mary Pierce was recalling her own experience of on Radio 5.
Wish her every possible best wishes, and hope that the prognosis is somehow better than feared.

I hope they think better of showing it on the evening wimbledon summary program on BBC.

Yes, I do too, though rather fear the prurient rubberneckers are in the majority - David Busst and Joe Theisman's mis-fortunes are amongst the highest rated sports videos.
