Lucy Brown took a break from competition to get her level 3 LTA coaching (passed a couple of weeks ago), and is coaching at Billesley. She might compete again this year, but isn't sure. Dan Smethurst hasn't competed for several months, and someone told me he is travelling and coaching in Australia
Dan retired after the grass court season last year.
I didn't know, must have been soon after the grass season then, because I watched him play at Sutton in August (hard court), both singles and mixed.

He may still be playing club tennis etc but he retired from the tour. I was talking to Dan at Wimbledon. His plan was to play the German league season and then stop. Milts is another who we probably won't see on tour again although his exact quote to me was "never say never".

Effectively Dan's body couldn't manage the ins and out of tour tennis. He has retired from the tour and is down under travelling. Plans are still undecided and he may go into coaching, but I don't think he has got his qualifications yet.

I keep wondering if Anna's name is going to pop up on a college roster. She's trained a lot in the States so presumably has done some of her schooling there and think she's always been quite diligent with he academics.
I wonder if Jazzamay has called it a day - to my mind she had got about as far as she was likely to. Certainly seemed to have plateaued.
I see that Sam Murray is entered for the Tier 2 British Tour event at Edgebaston starting on 13th March. But the withdrawal deadline hasn't passed yet, so wait and see.

Not sure what Dan's longer term career plans are, but as I type this, he is sitting in the Dan Evans player's box at Indian Wells, alongside Mark Hilton. I wonder if he has some work as a hitting partner ?
I knew about the baby incidentally. I'm assuming he isn't taking the tour seriously though, doesn't appear in any listing in April. I'd be against an Main Draw Wild Card for Wimbledon based on the lack of activity since. I'd rather it went to the likes of Ed Corrie or someone sweating away on the tour but I'm realistic enough to know this won't happen.
