Just read that Alex Ward has a stress fracture in his racket arm which explains why he's not been playing
Oh dear. I did wonder. It is not the first time. He missed a long period a couple of years back for the same reason. You have to fear that this may affect him for his entire career.
I don't think it was mentioned on here, and I didn't twig until PaulM mentioned it over in the women's thread and I looked at her Twitter account, but Emily Webley-Smith got very bad burns on her legs a little under two months ago and is still recovering. Sounds pretty grim - but, unsurprisingly given that it's Ms W-S, indomitable isn't in it. All the best to her for continued recovery!

Evan Hoyt has stated on Instagram that he his having shoulder surgery next Weds. He has had such a long history of injury problems, that I really feel for him right now.
Seconded on both fronts. The papers this morning are saying that doctors are optimistic that she'll play tennis again - but the attack sounds dreadful and the uncertainty around what 'will play tennis again' means must be very difficult. Hope that it means she returns at full strength - and wish her all the best.

Nadia Petrova announced her retirement today. A very fine and always underrated player.
Also this week, Jarmila Wolfe/Gajdosova/Groth announced her retirement.
Best wishes to both for everything in the future.

Quite a few players have yet to enter the world of tennis this year - any updates?
Lisa Whybourn - entered and now injured, currently earning some cash and training at the athletics track
Sam Murray - retired?
Eden Silva - not played since Nov
Fran Stephenson - retired?
Lucy Brown - retired?
James Ward - injured, waiting to get PR?
Evan Hoyt - back practising
Richard Gabb - got a bad injury, but seems to be close to playing again
Dan Cox - retired for good?
Lucy Brown took a break from competition to get her level 3 LTA coaching (passed a couple of weeks ago), and is coaching at Billesley. She might compete again this year, but isn't sure.
Dan Smethurst hasn't competed for several months, and someone told me he is travelling and coaching in Australia

Dan retired after the grass court season last year.
