Farewell, then to Francesca Schiavone.
Retiring after 22 years a pro, and far exceeding most expectations of her career. Wrung everything possible out of what she had, and never left an audience short of the anything but the maximum entertainment she could provide them on any goven day.
The golden Italian generation now gone, Penetta, Vinci, Schiavone. They have a lot of good juniors, that have been inspired by them, coming through in the next few years as suitable and fitting legacy.
