RE: Week 33 - ITF ($25K) - Woking, UK - hard

I'm guessing it's raining as Manisha's match has been stuck for a while

Wow Charlotte Pearce, no doubt inspired by her personal cheering squad.
Probably Manisha was our best hope, so 2 qualifiers clearly surpassing expectations.

As well as being a bagel set down, Charlotte was 3-5 down in the 3rd, so that was quite a comeback

Completely agree. Given the draw, Manisha was always our best chance - in fact, i'd though Beth Askew might well take out Mana in the first round. So well done to Manisha - another good result  smile

But what a bolt from the blue from Charlie Pearce !!! And having been so close to losing - just mega !

As Katy Dunne says, with infectious joy:

Yeeeeees @iCharliePearce !!! Massive! Last time I looked at the score you were 5-3 30-15 down in the 3rd #boomtown

Em and Savinykh as top seeds playing the winner of Laura D/Jess S v Lucy/Amy B

Eden & Van der Graaf playing Tara & Sirotkina

MAIN DRAW

Tough draws, especially for most of those most likely to be able to take advantage had they got decent ones, but who knows - some could have a chance if they play near their best. No Brits in the top quarter, the blank lines separate the other quarters.

L32: (WC) Emily Arbuthnott UNR v (3) Marta Sirotkina (RUS) WR 154 (CH 115 in 2013)
L32: (WC) Eden Silva WR 891 v Justyna Jegiolka (POL) WR 319 (CH 302 in Jul)
L32: (WC) Katie Boulter WR 471 v (7) Amandine Hesse (FRA) WR 193 (= CH)

L32: Tara Moore WR 262 v (4) Magda Linette (POL) WR 158 (CH 106 in Apr)

L32: (Q) Manisha Foster WR 732 v (8) Ana Vrljic (CRO) WR 232 (CH 180 in 2013)
L32: (WC) Isabelle Wallace WR 1269 v Despina Papamichail (GRE) WR 359 (CH 317 in Jul)
L32: Emily Webley-Smith WR 367 v Sviatlana Pirazhenka (BLR) WR 374 (= CH)
L32: (Q) Charlotte Pearce UNR v (2) Aliaksandra Sasnovich (BLR) WR 123 (= CH)

Edit: Missed this H2H - Tara v Linette H2H 0-1, 2 & 2, Ankara 2013

Could easily be a round 1 wipe out. Was slightly surprised Em stuck with this tournament, not the easiest turnaround after a long block on the road.

I guess she has to come back on a regular basis to renew her passport......

Izzy and EWS have the best chances. I wouldn't be surprised if Katie B won as well, having seen Amandine before.

Amandine's balls will either be clean winners or out by a country mile.

She's been playing a lot of big tournaments in the last 6 months - WTA and 100Ks and 50Ks. Trying to confirm her top 200 level. But hasn't had all that much success. Which will be frustrating for her (and she certainly DOES frustration ! In spades). So it'll be curious . . . she's certainly got a big game, but half the time it's more on the neighboring court than the one's she's supposed to be playing on . . .

Off topic, but I notice Jade Curtis has now graduated (having barely lost a match in 3 years!) - anyone know whether she's planning on playing on the tour again? Haven't seen her on any lists this summer...hope she does!
