Bah.

At least she's had 8 matches over the last 2 weeks, and we know she can play a hell of a lot better.

Now got about a week to get refreshed and work on a few things before the US Open.

Heather has stormed back into the top 50 this year but her normally excellent service deserted her today and the rest of her game blew hot and cold. She might benefit from a rest now to recharge the batteries before the US Open.

Rightly furious with herself after a very frustrating performance. I still can't work out how Zhang has got her ranking so high.

However Hev has played more than enough good tennis this swing and id have been a bit worried that another good run here would lead to a New York letdown. Needs to rest and then get prepared. Should be targeting the fourth round.

Much may depend on her draw at the US Open.

eg. will be due to meet a seed in one of the first two rounds and a top 16 seed in one of the first three rounds. Of course, seeds can disappear :)

Actually, got two weeks before the US Open ( assuming not playing next week ) so even more time.

Hmmm !!!! I thought the only way Zhang would win this match was if she rediscovered her best form, which she certainly didn't. Inexplicable really if fully fit/ not mentally physically jaded after a full playing schedule over the last several days. However if you analyse Hev's performance it smacked of being just 1 game too much. She did try to raise her intensity level when 0-2 down in the 2nd, but couldn't sustain it in the 3rd. A shame because the win was on the plate there for her. The draw gods have been kind to Hev this year for the most part let's hope she doesn't get her usual rough draw at the US open.

Nice news for Hev, that she will team up for Andy to play Hopman Cup for the first time.
