In the doubles, Nicola Slater is playing with Kuwata, as number 2 seeds, and are playing their first match against Emily Webley-Smith and Lykina.

Naomi is playing with Pavlovic against the US pair of Christian/Sanchez.

So, Nik not playing with Emily even with both being there. They have played together quite a few times and I had been wondering whether they hoped to make it a long term thing.

She's partnered Em in 3 events in the last 12 months and they've only won one match. Maybe they don't bring the beat out in each other.

I'm not sure they are likely to follow the same paths. EWS likely to travel the world playing 15K and 25K tournaments. Naomi has bigger fish to fry at the moment due to her ranking, probably 50k + ITF events and a few of the smaller WTA tour events.

I think they were talking about Nik and Em, not Naomi and Em.

Not that there's really any reason why people from the same country should play together . . . especially when there are so few players to choose from, as in Britain.

Oops - try reading properly.

As a specialist doubles player, Nik must be targeting bigger tournaments than Em. You cannot make any money as a specialist doubles player at 25K or lower.

Em wins 61 62. A lot of doubles and a bit if a blip at 50* in the second! but a great win.
