It's not looking great for Dan S, is it. By my calculation, he's now 6 out (I think?). The US WC decisions mean that not many have been "promoted" from qualifying ...

Hoping, but not wildly hopeful ...
Well according to the tennisteen.it entries website, Dan S is now IN qualies, currently the lowest ranked player to have been promoted into the qualies draw, post withdrawals, WCs, etc. Normally this site is pretty accurate, and theres a couple of days to go anyway, so I'm almost certain hes either in or will be in.
Just compiling next week's GB men's top 25 table, I notice there are no less than 25 Futures events on offer in week 34 (that may be a record, though I haven't checked), which makes it a bit sad that only 4 of the GB top 25 are playing in them - and they're all playing Winnipeg 15K, which may well be the toughest of the 25 to get points from.
I realise there are no Challengers on next week (though US Open qualifying should keep most of the top 250 out of Futures) and the 25 Futures don't include one in the UK, but it seems like quite a missed opportunity to get some easier than usual points for the Brits ranked 300+.
That said, it's good that it looks like there will be 4 GB men in USO Q - and 5 would have made it in if Kyle had entered.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
I was thinking this morning that it's wonderful to have such ... well, an abundance of players (I have stopped myself making a repeated - and hence redunDANt pun) ... in the USO qualies. It's the kind of thing which must be much more fun if you're doing it with a group than if you're doing it alone. Hoping they all get kind draws and do very well!
I was assuming that George had some sort of summer job - no idea - but several players seem to take coaching jobs in August when there are summer camps etc.
Steven's point is well made, especailly when you think that Ned Boone and, probably, Joe Copper are MD direct entries into a 15k !!! (And it's a hard surface tourney)
And that, even if you don't want to go so far-flung, even the other ones (mainly clay but not all) are more like weak-ish 10 k tourneys in many ways - a couple of good players but going down to about WR 1000 in the MD !
There are a couple of 15K's in the UK in September which will kick start the autumn season with British interest, although it's good to see Dave & Ed electing to avoid and have a go at the French 15K+H.
I'll update the 1st Sept entries over the weekend as the ITF have only just been released.
Another reason for the rather disappointing turnout in the 15ks and even the 10k this week is obviously the attraction of the double prize money Sutton British Tour event:
A whole HEAP of our top players are down for it, including;
Tom F, James M, Neil P, Lucy B, Jack C, George C (he IS playing, Bob, just not getting top 500 points . . .), Eden C, Harry M, Jess S, Joe S, Lewis T etc. etc. etc.
Deserves it's own thread, really when it gets going - it's a BIG pot of money . . .
I may have asked this before but what is the reason for multiple tournaments coming off at once? I saw that Kyle has three tournaments (2 C, 1 NC) coming off on 08.09 to the tune of 12 points. Is there any method to the madness?

It all relates to the Slams. Points and rankings are not updated during the slams and therefore is someone has played a couple of tournaments in the corresponding weeks last year, they ALL come off together at the end of the slam. Add in the factor that ITF Futures are always on a week's delay anyway, and therefore with the "right" combination of futures and challengers, you can have 3 weeks worth of points coming off at one time.

Thanks BiS, as usual! More understandable, at least.
