RE: Week 32 - WTA Premier ($2.44M) - Rogers Cup Montreal, Canada Hard

If Hev gets a high percentage of first serves in she will win the match, Smitkova is rather erratic.

Well done Hev! Very chuffed with the win, but particularly impressed with points such as 30-30 at 5-4* when Hev immediately looked to put Smitkova on the back foot, guaranteeing deuce!:) Smitkova had an impressive forehand, can't have been easy to deal with that.

I'll describe that win as gutsy. Hev's forehand a little inconsistent, needs to step in and attack that short ball.

Heather played 3 brilliant points over a set and a half from *42 in the second, they were the three points from 54 0-30* to her first match point. The rest was tight, no faith in the forehand, flat footed, second serve far too slow and in the middle of the box.

But she won. And winning ugly is important. Needs to find a way to deal with these nerves, it's never really something that's botherd her much before I don't think, but has been a real feature this year, perhaps down to not being totally comfortable with her new playing style.

Not her best win admittedly...but she still sent a top 100 player who had 2 good wins in qualies packing. Its a good example of the sort of win we would probably be more pleased with if we hadnt watched it!
