That was a bit of a struggle, but Heather hasn't won a singles match for a while so hopefully she will kick on having got over the line.

She plays Tamira Paszek next who beat Vekic in a match where Paszek served only 10 double faults to Vekic's 24!

Heather should have won more comfortably, losing the TB from 5-1 was a shame...hopefully wont have to struggle vs Paszek if she wants to make waves in the MD!

Good to get the win, and I certainly wouldn't say that losing out in the TB from 5-1 up had to be a choke. Could have been a few quite normal tennis points. Basically, we don't know.

Good stuff. It did look to me a decent qualifying draw, although Tamira has of course shown much better form in the past compared to recent times.

Heather seemed to compete pretty well last week against Kirsten Flipkens, with not much acclimatisation time after her extended doubles campaign in Baku.

Hopefully, in pretty good shape for these big few weeks.
