Jaggy, it was the ATP who said that Brydan was guilty of racist abuse, not me.
Maybe they were harsh, maybe not. But the ATP held a formal investigation, and that was their decision. As backed up by Tennis Australia.
It's all publicly available.
But, as I said, it's in the past, he was young, and he's 'served his time' - you can't carry things around with you all your life, that's the point of a fixed 'punishment'.
From a distance, it looks like Klein got squeezed between the ATP's redemptive urge for political correctness and their own double standards. Can anyone remember what they did when world No 1 Agassi got popped for drugs?
As I said, re Brydan I have only read stuff on this forum, and not looked into any of it further, so have left it to others to provide actual info or comments re Brydan as they seem fit.
Talking more generally, I follow many sports and have a default of generally supporting British and Scottish teams and competitors, but that support is not given unreservedly.
For instance, largely because of his on course demeanour and sheer rudeness to spectators and some media over the years, particularly when things went wrong ( he can often appear sweetness and light at other times ), Colin Montgomerie was someone who never got my support. He's never won a major - oh dear, never mind !
British / Scottish - you should support them ? - I invariably do and often passionately. But, nationality is not a be all and end all for my support, and I am sure others feel similarly.
Nice notice. Note the quick links into the next futures tournament, promoter (club) websites with 'més que un tenis club' offerings, futures circuit lists etc. Good marketing.
