QF: (2) Liam Broady WR 366 beat Jeff Dadamo (USA) WR 619 (CH 480 in 2012) by w/o
That should definitely get him into the top 350, though he might already be in there next Monday. In the SFs, Liam will face one of the two players against whom he has suffered his last 3 defeats - Fratangelo or Frank.

Big game for Liam tomorrow, Franks is probably the difference between Liam having had a storming futures trip to the US and the moderate degree of success he has experienced.
Franks is not your typical collegiate player, he went to his local college, good sporting institution but not outstanding and prior to him arriving no NCAA tennis championships. His choice was primarily down to maintaining a close relationship with his home coaches who had coached him to become the 3rd best Junior in the US, allowing a managed focused transition to seniors through college. He is under ranked as is obvious from his recent dominance of Liam despite a 250 place difference in rank as a result of losing an entire season as a sophomore/ junior (can't quite work out which although it probably traversed both academic years).
Ranked 4 for this seasons NCAA tournement he has a senior year, possibly two if he red shirted a year through injury, to emerge from collegiate tennis with a rank that will allow DE to challengers and a real crack at becoming a solvent touring professional. I think it would be very hard for a UK player to manage a collegiate career in such a way ie keeping a tried and trusted coaching set up, supplementing it with the TLC of collegiate tennis whilst managing the later so it has had little or no impact on the ITF challenger transition.
Hopefully Liam will do the business tomorrow, a walk over can't have hurt his chance. Fingers crossed
Interesting points, but given that Somdev Devvarman had been a singles NCAA champion twice and Mr Inglot and Mr Shabaz NCAA doubles champions once well before Mr Frank arrived at Virginia, I'm not sure I'd agree with your characterisation of their programme.
