Guess Jo is still injured and unable to defend her title?

I'll blame the lateness of the hour, but I think Hev is playing on the east coast of the USA.

L32: (8) Naomi Broady WR 147 v (Q) Jennifer Brady (USA) WR 798 (CH 588 last Aug)

Brady's ranking is based on just 4 tournaments and she qualified then beat a top 200 player in Lexington last week, so she is better than her ranking suggests.

A dangerous combination of rust and an underranked opponent

And also coming off a life changing Wimby experience, tough to get back to a much smaller event.

A disappointing result in doubles too :

QF: Jamie LOEB (USA) / Allie WILL (USA) 6-4 6-3 Naomi BROADY (GBR) / Michaella KRAJICEK (NED) [2]

I thought Naomi played brilliantly at Wimbledon but (from an outsider's position) do not agree with her decision to have canceled all her tournaments in the last month.

At least she has begun her hard court swing in time to get up to speed by the US Open qualies. Interesting to see the university women doing so well. More of a surprise ... though there seems to be a trend of some (though fewer than the men) top women going on to university now, too.

Not a great start to the hardcourt season.
