RE: Week 31 - Challenger ($100,000) - Vancouver, Canada (Hard)

Jeepers, yes of course I know that protracted speculation and shoulda/woulda/coulda is the very essence of a message board, but how many variations can there be - on this thread for James Ward and Dan Evans - of saying "if they were better at tennis, they'd be better at tennis"?

Oh dear, Ratty. Many of us enjoy speculation and prediction as is common among, I'd say, most sportsfans ( and to my mind, quite natural and interesting ), especially as here, usually being a lot more varied than you imply.

Anyway, I'd maybe steer clear of football forums and / or many pub debates :)

Really almost any sport would be to me less interesting now, and looking to the future, if it is not in the context of my own wishes, but also my expectations.

If Ward's ever gonna make the top 100, now would be the time to do it. 27, new coach, not too many points to defend for the rest if the year...

Certainly James has relatively little to defend for the rest of the year, and indeed nothing for the first month of next year.

Still big ask to reach the top 100 during that time. His year to date points total is 315 and WR 100 is currently on 569 points, so we're talking about probably adding about a further 250 points.

Good opportunity though to at least take out his CH in the short term.

not too big of an ask. If he schedules well and can pick up a couple of challenger titles he is well on his way. Qualifying at the us open and getting a kind 1st round draw certainly wouldnt do him any harm either
