Alex Ward

There's a short article written by Alex at the LTA website

http://www.lta.org.uk/News/2014/February/10-02-2014/The-life-of-a-tennis-player-Alex-Ward/

Hope he can come back soon and reach his goal of a 250 ranking!

Bad news about Alex, I'm afraid. He's cracked a bone in his radius so he's going to be out for a few months. Such a shame as he was going so well.

Oh, Lord.

When he was out earlier this year, wasn't that with a broken bone in his arm too ? I remember his talking about a 'crack' in his arm bone . . .

That is desperately unfortunate. And just when things were going to well.

Get well soon Alex.

Oh, bother. Really sorry about that. Seems such a nice person from what one hears, and was doing so well. Wishing him all the best for his recovery.

Tough luck - any ideas how long this takes to recover from. Will Alex be able to play again this year?

Must be so frustrating after such a good come back. Good luck Alex - keep the faith!

Alex: "Thanks for all the kind messages regarding my injury, especially the people on this forum, very generous!  britishtennis.activeboard.com/t58128437/alex"

Very kind of Alex to acknowledge the support under the circumstances. If we weren't big fans already ... (but I think most of us already were! )

I must admit that once players have come back and are doing well, I tend to forget exactly when previous injuries occurred, how long they lasted for or exactly what they were, but looking back at the last 12 months' T25 tables, he got a foot injury linked to a retirement in Este in late August which didn't keep him out of action for that long (though his results for a while after he came back weren't great) and then an arm injury early in 2014 after Sunrise which kept him out from mid-January until late March, since when he has reached 6 Futures singles finals, winning 4 of them and making a new career high.

Makes you wonder what he could do if he was fully fit for 12 months in a row - I hope he gets the chance to find out before too long. It must be so frustrating racking up the points like that only to have something like this happen
