RE: Alex Ward

So unfortunate, he was flying up the rankings. Hopefully it doesn't keep him out for too long, and hopefully he can hit the ground running again when he does return.

Don't break anything in the gym! Good luck with the rehab.

Best wishes to Alex . . .

For me, though, (and no doctor!!!) his arm is way more worrying.

To have two stress fractures, same place, in barely 6 months, is unusual, and stress fractures tend to recur and, though they heal fine, they can be a real ongoing problem. Quite common, especially in adolescent boys, but Alex has to be careful.

Oh, that's rotten. I really thought that he had a good shot of making 250 by the end of the year and building up a good cushion of ranking points. But looking at the breakdown, he has only 9 points to defend before next April ... so one can hope for great things during the winter. And he's shown that he knows how to use injury time-outs to improve!

Christ he's only been back about three weeks since his last injury. Is that his third medium-term one this year?

Gets no luck at all. We can only wonder what he'd achieve if given 12 months injury-free. The fact he's comfortably top 400 despite missing large chunks of the year is quite commendable.

I saw a tweet that Alex was back in training. And now playing.

Which is great.

But does anyone know why he took time out?

Injury? Or just post-Wimbly success holiday?

Naomi B did that as well - had her best Wimbly ever and then disappeared from view.

(PS Could this also go in the Individual player section?)

And talking of Alex, I noticed there was a picture of him on the JTC instagram feed - has he moved there from Soto?  Or just training ahead of the UK events?

All 3 Alex Ward threads now merged, thanks for bringing this to our attention CD. I've deleted 2 of your 3 posts about this because it looked a bit odd when they all ended up on the same thread

Alex wasn't at Soto.  He was training in Barcelona and had a coach from there. I guess at the moment he is just warming up for the UK events.
