RE: Week 30 - Challenger (€42,500): Aamulehti Tampere Open, Tampere, Finland (red clay) - doubles

3-3 in 2nd set. After no breaks of serve in the 1st set, there hasn't been a break point so far in the 2nd!

6-6 in the 2nd set. Just the one break point to Sean/Ruben in the lst game but not taken. They were very on top in that set, quite a few points ahead but, tie break it is.

Wow. At 3-4 on serve, Sean threw in (what looked like from livescores) two double faults to give their opponents 3 match points at 6-3.

All three saved and now 6-6.

Scoreboard keeps moving on in two points!

7-7.................now 8-8

Sean/Ruben set point 9-8.

9-9

9-10* MP

10-10*

11-10

12-10 Yes!

Tremendous news to come back to (if I hadn't gone out to do my shopping earlier, I'd probably have ended staying at home all day or gojne out late & risked not finding all the food items I wanted!).  Judging by the scoreline, it was quite a tussle!  jump.gif

Nice photo, too. biggrin

For the record:

Final:  (3) Ruben Gonzales (PHI) & Sean Thornley CR 421 (201+220) defeated Elias Ymer & Anton Zaitcev (SWE/RUS) CR 2058 (1403+655) by 6-7(5) 7-6(10) [10-8] in 1:52:32

Sean & Ruben deserved s & champions. happy112.gif

Well done and well fought :)

"Clutch" wouldn't have looked the word if that second TB had been lost on the back of two DFs at such a stage. But they kept with it.
