Naomi manages to get the first set in a tie-break, 7-6(5).

And then races to 5-1 in the second set. Serving for the match now . . .

Naomi gets her first ITF Pro Circuit main draw win since November 2010 and her 2nd point towards getting back on the WTA rankings

L32: (8) Danielle Konotoptseva WR 733 beat (WC) Alexandra Walters (AUS) UNR by 2 & 1
L32: (Q) Naomi Cavaday UNR beat (3) Linda Prenkovic (GER) WR 517 (= CH) by 7-6(5) 6-1

Both R2 opponents to be decided later tonight.

I hope Naomi is enjoying playing international tennis again. Back in 2008 I thought she would be the 1st of our girls to break into the top 100 but ill health made that impossible. If she is now enjoying playing again on the international circuit she could still make it into that elite group. The important thing is to be happy doing whatever she chooses to do.

L16: (8) Danielle Konotoptseva WR 733 v Ekaterina Tretyak (RUS) WR 840 (= CH, 16yo)
L16: (Q) Naomi Cavaday UNR v Michelle Sammons (RSA) WR 729 (= CH)

Dasha v Tretyak H2H: 1-0 - Dasha won 3 & 1 here just over a year ago then went on to make the final, for which the points come off next Monday. In May here, Tretyak beat Aimee Gibson in R2 then lost to Eden Silva in the semis.

Sammons was taken to 3 sets by Dasha earlier this month so hopefully won't pose Naomi too many problems.

Naomi has just withdrawn from next week's Egyptian futures though . . . don't quite know what that means but doesn't really bode well for a comeback . . .

Maybe she just wanted to get a ranking(1 counter already and two weeks in Egypt) and pick and choose when she wanted to play. However she may be expecting to get the ranking when this week's points get added....

More than likely she has coaching commitments or has been offered a wildcard at Nottingham
