A number of British seeds here, including Maia Lumsden who has managed to snaffle a wildcard. Anna Brogan would have to tackle the top seed if she wins her round 1 encounter.

Maia managed to reverse her result but Emily couldn't follow suit. Big points at stake tomorrow, where Maia takes on a fast-rising 14 year old who has won 2 of her last 3 G2 events.

Not a great day here with Gabi indeed the only winner. Alex did well to win a set, but Maia was tonked by Zhuk and Freya frustratingly lost from a set and 4-1 up, meaning that she has failed to get past this stage in her 7 G1s this year, and is heavily reliant on her doubles form to keep her place in the top 100 (speakiing of which she and Emily currently lead 7-5 3*-4 in the quarters)
Gabi is up against the top seed, and will be looking to improve on the 3 games she mustered against her in Spain earlier in the year.

I feel Freya has slipped back a bit..or at least not really pushed on much of late.
I think you're right but I get the impression (and it's not really backed up by anything but I'd/I've put money on it) that Freya will have no trouble when she moves up to senior tennis. Freya has an adult game just waiting for her to be an adult . . .
Never seen Freya play. How would you describe her? Baseline big hitter?
Yes, I would. Although others may have a more informed view.
She's also had all her GCSEs this year and been concentrating rather on them too (although presumably quite a lot of other girls the same age have the same).
I may well be wrong (hope not!) but I just feel that she has the physique and the game that will transfer easily to adult tennis - it's not a 'junior' game.
Gabi put up a great show, especially if she only won three games the last time they played earlier this year !
