That's 110 points now ( not 120 as I had thought ) so their second highest ever haul and still going.
Re possible top 100, no still well off and probably won't be quite there even if they win the tournament. Much bigger points gaps as you rise up the rankings.
Current rankings :
Anna : WR 130. 514 points. Joss : WR 135. 504 points.
Adding 110 SF points :
Anna : 514 + ( 110 - 29 ) = 595 points, currently equivalent to WR 121. Joss to 590 points ( dropping a 24 ).
If they win the title :) ( 280 points ) :
Anna : 514 + ( 280 - 29 ) = 765 points, currently equivalent to WR 106. Joss to 760 points.
WR 100 is currently 796 points, so just maybe an outside chance based on other movements if they win the title.
Incidentally, after next week, Anna drops the only counting score ( just a 34 ) that she doesn't share with Joss, so they will then be on the same score.
All in all though, certainly moving in the right direction.
Provisionally around 120 ranking - 796pts required to break into top 100. So may take a while to break in.
Incidently
Anna and Joss have won in the last 12 months:
1 x 75k
4 x 25K
4 x 10K
This week is only their first time they have won on the main tour and the only time they have lost together in the opening round are Wimbledon and Eastbourne since September last year(Turkey)
Might not to be the strongest number 1 seeds you'll ever have to face, but who cares. I had a nice long chat with Anna at Eastbourne, and one of the things she said was that they were going to target these weaker WTA events during the summer, nice to see it paying off. The medium term goal is to get to a combined ranking of around 150, so that they are direct entry's into all the grand slams.
Interesting that there are only a maximum of 11 counters towards women's doubles rankings ( 16 for women's singles and 18 for both men's singles and doubles ).
So these doubles rankings are comparatively rather more reflective of quality ( in size ) points than overall quantity, with regular doubles players such as Anna and Joss already dropping points of the level of 29 and 24 respectively and presumably many higher ranked regular doubles players dropping a lot more.
I wonder what the reaction would be with the men if they just counted their best 10 or 11. I guess some would argue that that would be a bit more reflective of who the best doubles players really were, comparatively helping more infrequent doubles players, including some fairly high ranked singles players.
There's also, even with singles, discussions such as the old Serena Williams vs Wozniacki one about general quality points over quantity. This has been addressed a bit by the WTA ranking points changes, but more significant would be if they reduced the number of counting events in singles ( both women's and men's ).
