Good to see Kyle here. Wouldn't necessarily be surprised if a tired Kyle possibly can't get past the first round but also wouldn't be surprised if he went on to the QFs.
I was in Murcia in 2013 and again this year Giner and Kyle had both gone out before the semis but interesting to see Carballes Baenia who saw of Kyle in semis a year apart, makes you realise how much Kyle has moved on. I agree with Bob fancy his chances against Giner, will be a good test of his resilience given how deep he's gone in Slovenia. I presume he will playing hard court until after the US open and then back on the clay thoroughly enjoyed his tour of Poland and then the challengers in Eastern Europe last Autumn did he stop in October due to injury or was it planned rest? Any idea
Must have just missed you in 2013. The Kyle v Carballes Baena match in the L16 was where I "cut my teeth" as a GB Tennis Forum match reporter. Didn't go down this year though as there was a distinct lack of British interest. If you are planning to go next year, fancy meeting up ? it is just down the road for me.
With regard to Kyle's premature end to the season, it was illness. However, to this day, nobody know exactly what the problem was. Initially they suspected Glandular Fever but all the tests proved negative. Whatever it was, it was completely debilitating, leaving Kyle with zero energy.
Looks like another decent draw for Kyle. If he can get through the 1st round, he would be scheduled to meet the 8th seed (ranked 190ish ) and would be in the same half as Berankis not Muller. Kyle looked physically pretty good last week, so I'm confident that wont affect him too much this week.
Yes. It's funny how it works out. If Kyle dos get through, he is scheduled to meet 8th Bozoljac who was beaten in R2 last week by Desein, who Kyle went on to beat in the QF. But if Bozoljac loses, Kyle would have to play Gerasimov in a repeat of last weeks R2 meeting. Would hope for a repeat result too.
Got to make sure he gets past Giner first though, before we start looking at R2.
Well Giner accepted if he progresses it won't be a voyage into the unknown, he should take plants of confidence and a plan for his potential opponents into the tournament. It is quite likely we will be in Murcia again in February and General try and see the semis on the Saturday before flying home will let you know if there is enough money in the bank for the biannual pilgrimage. You must have a good couple of weeks with Cartagena the next week. Once Carreno Busta impressive in 2013 you could see he was top 60 bound pretty rapidly from the way he dominated the field at Murcia and the Cartegena and then......

Yes. I thoroughly enjoyed my two weeks last year, especially the matches against Carballes Baena and Busta, even though Kyle ended up losing both of them. If work permits, I might make a pilgrimage up to Segovia for the Challenger in a couple of weeks too. Initial indications are that there will be a strong Brit contingent.
Kyle is due on later today but unless they change the schedule, I can see it being put back until tomorrow. He is 7th match on Grandstand and they have only just finished the 2nd match. Two more singles and two doubles before Kyle is due to play. So unless they have a couple of very quick matches, or put the doubles matches back, I can't see Kyle getting on today.
