Colin not seeded next week - & with a different partner - but it is a step up from this week &, on the face of it at any rate, a winnable match. Sadly, they're in the same quarter as the top seeds, Peya & Soares. Decent draw for Jamie & John.
R1: Oliver Marach & Gilles Simon (AUT/FRA) CR 341 (44+301) vs Colin Fleming & Julian Knowle (AUT) CR 80 (38+42) R1: (WC) Martin Emmrich & Christopher Kas (GER/GER) CR 141 (64+77) vs (4) Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 55 (27+28)
Indeed. Glad to see Messrs Murray and Peers advancing, though. They have been remarkably consistent this year ... at least in 250s. The real issue for Mr Murray is that he's defending masses of points (about 1,800 of 2,800) between now and November ... has three very unhelpful 0 pointers from Masters' Series tournaments, and presumably has to play more Masters series. He needs either to win some more 250s (or at least reach the finals) or to do quite well in the 500s/1000s to maintain his ranking. But the Masters series for doubles players is tough - such a small draw that there are few or no weak entrants, and if you are in the position of having to play but being one of the lower-ranked teams you are likely to come away with nothing.
