Week 29 - ATP 250, Bogotá, COL - Hard

Lovely surprise here, very good choice of event!

Q1: (1) James Ward WR 154 v Bye

Seed in his section is (8) Marcelo Arevalo (ESA) WR 474 so hopefully 12 points and an ATP main draw place here. Will play either Santiago Gonzalez or Tigre Hank in his first match.

Edited purely to add the accent to "Bogotá". wink

He is not the only Brit there either. The Skupskis are playing Doubles, so at least they will all have some company and moral support.

QR2:  (q1) James Ward WR 154 vs Santiago González (MEX) WR 1183

Winnable...

He was not on the original entry lists, so I assume he has just turned up and signed for qualifying.

R1:  (4) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 137 (68+69) vs Victor Estrella & Adrian Mannarino (DOM/FRA) CR 1016 (326+690)

Here's hoping they can get past that one...

Great choice of tournament from Ward. Should really be qualifying here, and looking at the main draw real chance of QFs in my opinion - 4 winnable Q slots. 8th seed is only just ranked inside of the worlds top 100 - looks like a 100k challenger draw to me (not that I'm complaining!!)

*1-4 now after James has a BP opportunity at 30-40. Gonzalez saved it and won three straight points to hold.

And Ward is broken to go 1-5* down with Gonzalez serving for the set.

Better start to the second as Ward breaks for *2-0. That's after a hard fought first service game.

Well timed break and James goes *5-1 up in the second. Serve it out Wardy!
