Wow that got tense at the end there. Desein was really going for broke and it was paying off, but Kyle hung in there well and grinded it out. Excellent stuff.
That was a pretty one-sided set of tennis. Well done, Kyle. Desein played one great game but kyle had chances on all his service games and was clearly in the driving seat.
Phew !!! Thought Kyle was very very good until that certain game, which gave his opponent a new lease of life. His level has risen so much from round 1, just shows what a bit of confidence can do. Now playing the sort of tennis which makes us so excited about his future.

I make that his first challenger semi-final?
Yes, it is - it was only his 2nd Challenger QF (he lost to Bolelli in Vercelli in April)
Dan is also going for his first Challenger SF, having lost 2 QFs previously - to Boggo in Jersey in 2009 and to Sugita in Rimouski in March.
QF: Kyle Edmund WR 312 beat Niels Desein (BEL) WR 234 (CH 164 in 2010) by 4 & 4

Great result some great play, really promising display if he can consistently deliver the best bits I can see a top 30 player getting a nasty suprise in the not to distant future. Buffered out of all the good bits in second set. Now let's hope for an british semi !
Kyle's general play doesn't on the face of it seem to be suffering from his discussed lack of matches and various ATP tour appointments, whatever my own concerns, and there may indeed be some real benefits in these experiences. But I do think that it maybe does effect him in important match situations, in simply not been there, done it enough.
But that certainly should improve with time and more and more matches.
