Week 27 - Great Britain F12 ($15,000) - Manchester (grass)

Lloyd goes through 7-6(2) ret. against Marcus Daniell.

That means that unless someone else gets replaced by a non-GB lucky loser, all 78 ranking points from this tournament will go to Brits!

So does that mean with both "pesky" foreigners going out in R1, we are now guaranteed a full allotment of 78 points for GB players.  smile

Edit

Oh Steven. You beat me to it again you ************  biggrin

But isn't it 78 points (27 + 15 + 16 (2*8) + 12 (4*3) + 8 (8*1))

D'oh! I put 78 on http://www.britishtennis.net/gbtop25m/futhauls.htm, no idea where the "2" came from! Now corrected above too.

Don't tell anyone, but I actually put 74 first time and it was only when I saw your 72 that I decided to double check. wink

Josh Milton is winning 6-1 4-1

Interesting day - missed quite a bit of the singles as I couldn't get there until 12.30

Saw a bit of Harry's match and he looked very comfortable, he came off court and claimed his last aces was the biggest serve he had ever hit must have been 140mph+

Glasspool game was very tight and I was surprised it finished after the tie breaker, both players seemed to be moving quite well and Marcus went and played doubles later, but he did have his ankle strapped.
Caught the end of a tight battle between Keelan Oakley and Jack FH and it had third set tie break all over it, but Keelan broke at the death.

Saw a lot of the Burton v Clayton match and it was a very good long game riddled by nerves at the end. Scott was excellent in the first, but the errors then started to creep in and Burts started to dominate. The third set was very nervy and neither player dominated, but both had chances to win it.
Scott has the potential to climb the rankings, he is a talented player, but he needs to sort his head out and cut of the errors.
Lewis has a natural grass court game and you can see why he is a good doubles player, but he lacks confidence in finishing games in singles and he will admit that himself. He has been ahead so many times and failed to finish opponents off

George Coupland was comfortable against Richard Gabb, who seemed to play from the baseline and seemed to be lacking in confidence

Porter v Kivanda was a close match, with lots of errors. Kivanda got very frustrated as did Dave who threw rackets and made a lot of comments during the match. George will beat Dave comfortably.
Saw a bit of the Rice v O'Hare match. Dave played very well and he had to O'Hare is rather useful.

I'll post the doubles summary on the doubles thread.

A couple of snippets - Dan Smethurst withdrew as a precaution with a little niggle, but is off to the States at the weekend(courtesy of his Dad). Looks like Bloomers is looking after the NTC boys this week. Dave Sammet was there again keeping an eye on the Bath boys and there were a few.

In the other games, Joe squeezed a tight first set 7-6(3) against Neil but is now running away with the 2nd, up a double break at *4-1

Lewis is fighting back against Brydan and is serving for the 2nd set *5-3

Josh M v Harry has just started.

Was hoping to get down again today, but stuck in the office and for some silly reason they have scheduled matches from 10.30 and only 3 matches per court, so by the time i get there most of the singles will be nearly finished. #annoyed

Might go down Saturday if forecast is OK.
