Girls: Wimbledon 2014, grass - Grade A (Weeks 26/27)

Unusually we have a seed in qualifying (normally all British players ranked that high get main draw wildcards). In this case it is Emily Smith, who withdrew a few days ago and so needed a wildcard for qualifying. Her section (with Lana Rush) and the one including Jasmine Asghar plus Anna Brogan present the best chance of qualifiers.

Katie Boulter and Izzy Wallace make the main draw on ranking. Freya Christie may have a Special Exempt - if not Katie Swan will make it in on ranking. Emily Arbuthnott, Maia Lumsden, Gabi Taylor, Harriet Dart and Jodie Burrage would appear to have main draw wildcards. Anastasia Mikheeva is also a possibility, though she withdrew (like Emily Smith) earlier.

Two qualifiers I am pleased to report. On closer inspection Anna's opponent had a stronger record than I had realised (2 10K finals this year), so a very good effort from her to edge through. She is joined by Holly, who took advantage of being in one of the weaker sections of the draw.

Ooof. Sometimes it's hard to believe you can get a run of draws as bad as those.

They may be playing a few seeds but I haven't heard of many of them so i'm sure we'll get a few surprises

Maia and Ana has certainly drawn the short straws. Wouldn't be surprised if those two americans make the final (if they are in separate halves of the draw)

Harriet is a break up on the WTA270: 4-1*
Emily was a break up but pegged back to 3*-4 (against someone who beat Jo Konta in a WTA qualifier earlier in the year

Disappointed both Emily and Harriet ended up on televised courts but we can't watch because the streams either closed or diverted away to a different shot despite showing the warm-up and part of the opening game. Doesn't Wimbledon normally show junior matches?
