Brits make up 3 of the top 4 seeds this time and all 4 Brits are in different quarters, making a big change from last week!

L32: (4) Luke Bambridge WR 572 v (Q) Hunter Callahan (USA) UNR (CH 1393 in 2012)
L32: Toby Martin WR 870 v (Q) Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (USA) UNR (CH 1508 in 2010)
L32: (2) Ashley Hewitt WR 461 v Jorge Montero (CHI) WR 856 (CH 790 in 2012)

Haven't heard of either Mr White or Mr Montero: Hunter Callahan is a university player on summer holidays, as is Thai-Son Kwiatkowski, one of the top juniors to have gone on to university. He's at Virginia, Mr Inglot's alma mater.

And just looking at the quali results, Mr. Callahan was pretty lucky (won the last tight match when his opponent retired), Mr. White had a tricky time of it (even before losing his last round) - and Mr. Kwiatkowski cut through the draw like a hot knife through butter . . .

So, yes, Toby certainly looks like the one to have drawn the short straw . . .

All the other R1 matches involving Brits got cancelled because of the (rain-?)delayed start.

L16: (1) Liam Broady WR 392 v (WC) Winston Lin (USA) WR 1842 (CH 1537 in 2012)

Lin is a college player btw - see www.gocolumbialions.com/ViewArticle.dbml, which mentions him beating Pasha (the player who reached the semi-finals from the top quarter last week) in 3 sets.
