RE: Week 26 - Wimbledon men's main draw

I think it was reasonable to be looking for one win other than Andy in R1, with 2 being beyond my expectations.

But not to be, unless Dan Smethurst pulls off a really huge surprise.

Very good effort by Dan Cox, a real fighter who continues to exceed many folk's expectations.

Surely Kyle is now back to the should-be-standard Futures/Challengers schedule? I just can't see any justification for any messing around!

Great display by Coxy, always underrated here, but showed his talent today.
Evo another one to impress in defeat given his current injury status, I was very impressed by his opponent today, on another day it could/should have gone to 5 and then who knows.

Never understood why posters on this board give so much flack to commentators... chill out for goodness sake!

Because bad commentators can spoil the viewing experience. When you have people like MacIntosh commentating I just wish there was a no commentary option.

Only caught the end of the Evo and Kyle matches, but from what I saw of Evo in set 3 and 4, he was the better player, but Kusnetsov's return of serve was outstanding and Dan was under pressure on second serve.
Kyle was outclassed and doesn't look ready for this level yet. Made lots of errors and was reliant on his big serve to get him out of trouble. His game is not suited to grass and the sooner he is back playing futures and challengers on clay the better.

Dan Smethurst comes out on court / warms up looking like he's played Wimbledon many times before and hasn't got a care in the world

Smethy is acquainting himself very well in the beginning of the match.
He seems to be more than able to go toe to toe with Isner in the rallies. It is just a case of really focusing on defending his serve, get into some breakers and see what happens.
Good luck to him!

No longer any mystery about why Dan has been doing so well this year! Looks very much at home out there, some great shots
