Week 26 - Wimbledon men's main draw

Evans is being blown off the court by Kuznetsov. Unless something changes quickly this is going to be really ugly.

A horror game at *5-5 from Evo undid a lot of good work. Hard to see him winning from 2 sets down.

Kyle now 2 sets down having lost the second set breaker from 3-0 up. Time for him to get back to the grind of challengers now. Playing some good stuff but clearly not quite ready for this level yet and this fast-tracking business needs to stop.

For the love of humanity can someone please ban Ronald MacIntosh from commentating on a tennis match ever, ever again.

Ha. I was thinking the same thing Priesty. He needs to be getting wins and build up to the tour for next year

He hit a new low today. He described a service return as a volley and backhand as a forehand.

Not to be for Evo. After being blown away in the first set he played 3 pretty good sets but Kuznetsov was also pretty good for much of the match. On another day Dan would have forced a fifth set but Kuznetsov won just enough of the big points.

A pretty disappointing day really - especially Kyle not even taking a set off AHM, who might be the best draw he ever gets as a WC (though if he gets back to business in Challengers from now on, hopefully he won't need (m)any more), and Evo will probably feel it's a missed opportunity too. Dan Cox did best of the GB men today, apart from Andy.

L128: (WC) James Ward WR 154 lost to (17) Mikhail Youzhny (RUS) WR 16 (CH 8 in 2008) by 6-2 6-2 6-1
L128: (WC) Dan Cox WR 214 lost to Jérémy Chardy (FRA) WR 42 (CH 25 in 2013) by 6-2 7-6(3) 6-7(6) 6-3
L128: (WC) Kyle Edmund WR 320 lost to Andreas Haider-Maurer (AUT) WR 95 (CH 70 in 2011) by 6-3 7-6(4) 6-2
L128: (WC) Dan Evans WR 143 lost to Andrey Kuznetsov (RUS) WR 118 (CH 68 in 2013) by 6-1 7-5 3-6 7-6(5)
L128: (WC) Dan Smethurst WR 234 v (9) John Isner (USA) WR 11 (CH 9 in 2012) - 3rd on Court 3 on Tuesday

Really quite glad for Mr Cox: that was a fine showing. Sounds as though Mr Evans also fought back nicely after a weak opening. Ah well. Now back to the daily grind ... except for hoping for Mr Smethurst to do well tomorrow!

Yep, given the matches and the opponents, I thought Dan Cox turned in the best performance today, by quite a way.

And that's including Andy, although it's no criticism of Andy, simply that you can't get many brownie points if you're ranked number three and you beat the WR 105.

Never understood why posters on this board give so much flack to commentators... chill out for goodness sake!
