All the qualifying is best of 3 sets (even the last round, I think, although someone did tell me that the last round was best of five but I don;t think they're right)
The last round of singles qualifying is 5 sets, unless something has changed for this year (I don't think it has) - I think Wimbledon may be the only slam where this is the case though.
Never been to the final day. Will maybe try to make it tomorrow - then will perhaps get it imprinted on my mind that the final round has FIVE sets (repeat, CD, five sets). Memory-on -the-blink :)
Did I read somewhere that Sean is packing it in after Wimbledon? Hope not. For the record, how many points do they pick up for this......15??????
I hadn't read that but if true it isn't surprising. Sean is 25 so how long can he afford to chase the dream? His prize money this year has been just over $3K and even with bits of sponsorship and LTA money that doesn't come anywhere near to making a living.
As a doubles specialist you need to be on the ATP Tour to make ends meet and the sad truth is that the Dave/Sean partnership shows no indication that they can achieve that level. In the last year they have played 16 challengers, making 3 semi finals and 4 quarter finals but losing in the first round on 9 occasions. That isn't the worst record in the world but it does indicate a pair with limited potential.

Thanks for all the reports, certainly appears rather more encouraging than a few dismissive comments.
Re Oli, I did read that Oli playing the grass court season is against the LTA's ( highly uncustomised ? ) schedule for him. It would be a pity if a 'penalty' is absolutely no LTA support at matches in this period.
Oli received a WC for qualies didn't he? Surely the LTA would have had a hand in that????

They could hardly say no if he wanted one though because he met the criteria of top 350 which normally assures a qualifying wild card.
I remain both baffled and annoyed by the LTA's apparent belief that our promising youngsters should miss the grass court season.
NB Impressed by the young Australian men that I saw - really excellent matches from 20 year-old Luke Saville - his match against Belucci could have been in the main draw - a real stunner. Alex Bolt, age 21, was another. 22 year-old Duckworth produced some great tennis too. And Groth is obviously a monster.
Great attitude from all of them, too - really committed.

Only a decade ago Australians were lamenting their lack of talent - apart from Leyton and Flippinousis there was nobody.....I think there is an element of chance in all this, and people never mention that...
