RE: Week 25 - ATP World Tour 250 - Eastbourne, UK (Grass)

I would like to see both James and JWH get the final two qualifying wild cards (unless of course they do intended to give one of them to Quinzi, last years junior champ). I understand the desire not to give out an excessive number of main draw wild cards to Brits but with qualifying I really don't think that such concerns should apply.

Well done to both Dan's on getting to last round of qualifying and well done to James and Jathan on a good effort against top players!!

Ward has a decent chance of getting to the QFs with his draw.

Yep, you can't really ask for a much better draw than he has got, hopefully he takes full advantage.

Dan Cox lost the first set 3-6 but into a tie-break in the second.

(NB As expected, Darcis has got a Quali wildcard so that leaves one left - Quinzi ? Josh WH ? someone else? )

And Dan takes the TB 7-6(5).

Perhaps unsurprisingly it was decided by another tiebreak. Unfortunately Coxy lost out 6-3 6-7(5) 7-6(2)

Terrific effort though. Let's hope he can take his confidence into Wimbledon.

Kyles got a tricky start but probably easier than Challenger last week! 8 points for knocking out number 1 seed and then up against best player in the tournament who is under ranked and chasing a wildcard. Another fascinating week ahead.

So that's 6 points to Dan ?

(Plus about £1000, what with the prize money and the bonus top-up).

Good stuff :)

There is a max of 5k in the bonus fund and I would guess Dan S has already claimed all funds.

I was talking about Dan Cox (who won't have hit his ceiling yet, by my reckonings).

It is a REAL problem with having so many Dans - I put this just under the Dan Cox result but it's not surprising that it all gets muddled. Compulsory deed poll name changes should be part of the funding agreement (and extra top-up bonuses given to Rhett and Jathan and Imran and anyone else with a very identifiable name). smile

Qualifiers placed and Dan gets Kamke:

L28: (WC) James Ward WR 155 v Donald Young (USA) WR 65 (CH 38 in 2012)
L28: (WC) Dan Evans WR 139 v (Q) Tobias Kamke (GER) WR 88 (CH 64 in 2011)
L28: (WC) Kyle Edmund WR 297 v Sam Querrey (USA) WR 78 (CH 17 in 2011)

Evo v Kamke H2H: 0-1 - Kamke won 2 & 2 at the Jersey Challenger in 2010, putting a very quick end to Dan's title defence there

I think that the £5000 cap only applies to futures tournaments, paulisi

And when Ms Swan (hopefully) starts to come along we'll be having the same problem on the women's side with all the Katy/ie's.......
