Not too many surprises above I don't think, apologies if it was posted in the wrong place, feel free to move this steven!

Only one for me was that I was surprised Alex Ward got one considering he hasn't played any of the grass court season... saying that, I think the man does possess a lot of potential to spring an upset - he's under ranked at the moment in my opinion.

Must admit I did think they'd give one to Katy Dunne but I think it's the right decision not to.

I'd be curious to know, over time, how much difference it makes.

I mean, the French federation gave 17 year-old Fiona Ferro (ranked about 420) a MD WC this year.

Not saying that's right or wrong but, just wondering, if one looked back at similar players, does it make a difference? Does it impact their career (for good of bad)?

I think I'd have given Katy a MD wildcard but that's an 'off-the-cuff' thing, I'm not sure it'd have been the right decision - would be interested to know the stats or coaches' feedback from those top young players who have, or haven't received one. I'm guessing that it doesn't really make any difference over the long-term . . . .

No I don't think it makes much of a difference either, all about playing matches at this stage. At least she's ggot more of a chance of playing a few more by attempting to qualify.

The only one I would question is the Ward/Evans doubles one. I am pleased for them as Brits but, always feel its a slap in the face for those trying to make a go of doubles that I presume it would mean even more to? There are three other good pairings, and four more cards to give out so it may all not be lost yet.

Yes, very much as expected, though I did think most of it was pretty clear.

Men's singles : I am pleased that they have gone over the normal max total of 8 LTA recommendations so that all of the fairly clear GB top 11 have got something ( however that has been arrived at between the LTA and Wimbledon ). Wasn't sure about Alex Ward, really just based on his schedule, otherwise fair he is in the mix with the other Q WCs.

Women's singles : A bit surprised that Emily didn't get a Q WC, still being, if only just, a GB top 8 player and liking grass, but her results haven't been great. Of course, what Katy D was awarded was waited on with interest. I wouldn't have had her near a MD WC until recent events, and while I normally prefer to look longer term than a few results, such has been these results and performances that I feel she had made a strong case. Pity she now has more limited time to get fit again, although I guess that could never really be an influence ( unless it was maybe a very marginal choice ? )

Men's doubles : Pretty much as expected. The only thought I had is that for me Smethurst / Corrie, Willis / Burton and Rice / Thornley should all get at least Q WCs and such is the limited nature of doubles qualifying, I wondered whether one of these pairs ( probably Smethurst / Corrie ) would get a MD WC in spite of not having a CR below 400.

Women's doubles : Pretty much as expected. I'd hope for a Q WC for Murray / Windley ( I am presuming there is some qualifying here ). Their ranking has dropped, but there have been injury issues. And I'd love to see the recently partnering Webley--Smith and Slater get Women's Q WC, because, err, mainly because I like them !

Murray and Windley have a doubles qualifying place. One other wildcard spot there to be given out. The two men's wilcard doubles qualifying spots haven't been attributed yet.

Oh, so there are two men's doubles Q WC spaces. 3 into 2 doesn't go.

For me, Smethurst / Corrie and Willis / Burton would definitely be the two. But still would be a bit tough on Rice / Thornley.

As they've got 4 wildcard main draw doubles slots still left to hand out, maybe they could give one of those to one of the teams above ?

Yes, CD, I speculated on one pair getting a MD WC in my longer post if, as it seems is the case, there was a Q WC limit.

Seems sensible to me and Smethurst / Corrie have a CR of 418, so not that far over the CR 400 target.

Could Colin and Ross not have used a PR to get in, or have they already reached their limit for the year (surely not?) Maybe there is a limit of 1 or 2 per Grand Slam?

Would think that Jamie D / Muller are in line for one of the remaining Doubles WCs, especially if they go deep at Nottingham.
