RE: Week 23 - ITF ($15K) - Sarajevo, Bosnia/Herzegovina Clay

L32: (Q) Eleanor Dean WR 726 beat (1) Jasmina Tinjic (BIH) WR 266 (CH 236 last Sep) by 3-2 ret.

L16: (Q) Eleanor Dean WR 726 v (Q) Nina Stojanovic (SRB) WR 703 (= CH; junior CH 17 last year)

Probably a battle between two very underranked players. C'mon, Eleanor !

Eleanor missed 4 bps at the start of the 3rd set then saved 2 bps, before finally breaks for *2-1.

Dominant spell takes Eleanor to 5-1*

Nina holds *5-2

Eleanor saves 2 bps, but is broken from 40-40 5-3*

Eleanor with 2 mps, she takes the 2nd 6-3

Both players had runs of 5 games in a row. Eleanor taking 8 out of 9 games from 3-3 in the 2nd set. The rest of the match was a real struggle.

Melis Sezer up next for Eleanor.

Not being used to 15Ks yet, I had to look up the points for a QF and got a nice surprise - 5 points, c.f. just 2 for a 10K QF these days, despite R1 wins being worth the same (1 point) in both!

Good win in the end, Sezer might be a tough match.

Good stuff.

That takes Eleanor up to at least 33 points, provisionally jumping her to GB no 13 on Monday week.

It puts her just ahead of Lucy 32, Dasha 31, Manisha 29 and Lisa 27. Exciting stuff, eh ? :)

I'm not sure what Lucy and Manisha are up to next week, they could add. And re Lisa, anyone know how close she is to a return ?

Lisa is a priority 1 alt for Nottingham wonder if she play qualies here. Would seem a bit soon jumping straight to a 50k. A couple weeks in Egypt might be the best start for her.

Eleanor lost her doubles match 10-4 in the MTB (not that it matters that much, dare I say it . . .) Good luck in the next round singles, Ellie.
