That was fantastic In a way, the 2nd set bagel makes it even more encouraging - the fact that she just forgot about it and came out and played like she did in the 3rd (helped by Lucic's dfs, for sure, but so much good stuff of her own too) - from never having beaten a player in the top 300 to taking the scalp of a top 100 player
Not hard, is it, to imagine a 4-year-old Katy pointing at that 1999 Wimbledon semi on TV & saying "one day, I'm going to beat her"

Yes, I think it's the first time - I was going to check back a few months, bit if you think so too, I won't bother to check! It'll probably see her into the WTA top 450 too.

Excellent win - should get Katy a main draw wildcard on the back of that result and possibly an Edgbaston and Eastbourne QWC
For me, still no, off the back of one win, but I would give her (along with Jade and Katie B) QWC to avoid the play-offs (and of course if she keeps going then you might raise the argument as the AELTC has placed weight on the Notts events when awarding foreigners wildcards, so you feel they should do so with the Brits too if they don't meet LTA criteria!).
Because of the Notts/Brum split next week, I imagine she'll end up in the main draw of one or the other.

Ha, WR 118, piece of cake :) Seriously, will be interesting how Katy does, that's a task and a half.
As well as Katy going to GB no 10, that WR 100 win flies her up to GB no 10 for CH wins among GB current players. That clearly means that there are 10 current players with top 100 scalps. Liking all the round numbers :)
Katy: "Mum told the receptionist at the hotel 'she just beat the number 100 in the world n shes like 480!!' hand over eyes, oh dear! #juliediaries However it was handy because we ended up getting a free brekkie!!"

The top two seeds (Puig and McHale) have been replaced by lucky losers (Ozaki and Rodionova) - Tara would have to win her R1 match or Katy her R2 match for this to make any significant difference to the Brits.

Slightly frustrating to have 3 seeds pull out after play commences, I think those withdrawals before hand would have left Hlavackova seeded and Jo with a, potentially, kinder opener.
Paszek gone down very hard in 4th game on the baseline and in tears against Naomi. Never a nice sight to see a player injured. Not sure yet if she'll continue.
